About Us

Who are we?

We believe our schools must take the lead in moving toward a greener future by providing our children and future leaders with an environmental education and exemplary environmental programs, such as school-wide recycling.

What do we want?

  • The Dept. of Education to be in compliance with Local Law 19, which mandates our City’s agencies and residents recycle.
  • The Dept. of Education to implement their own Chancellor’s regulations on waste management.
  • Paid recycling coordinators in every NYC school who are accountable for planning and managing effective school recycling programs.
  • NYC schools to divert 80% of solid waste through school recycling programs.
  • Elimination of environmentally irresponsible practices, such as the use of Styrofoam trays in our cafeterias.
  • Use of environmentally friendly cleaning supplies and 100% recycled content paper products, as stipulated by current laws and regulations.
  • More environmental education programs to ensure a greener future.
