Professional Organizations: Parent-Teacher


National Parent Teacher Association
PTA membership is open to anyone who believes in the Mission and Purposes of National PTA. Individual members may belong to any number of PTAs and pay dues in each. Every person who joins a local PTA automatically becomes a member of both the state and National PTAs.

Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)
Since 1876, Music Teachers National Association has existed to support music teaching and the art of music. Founded by Theodore Presser and sixty-two colleagues, MTNA is America's oldest professional music association.

National Association of Special Education Teachers
A national membership organization dedicated to rendering all possible support and assistance to those preparing for or teaching in the field of special education.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalness, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.

Professional Organizations: Social Studies/Geography


National Council for the Social Sciences (NCSS)
AILF will award grants nationwide for the 2005-06 school year, of $500 to $1,000, to fund a limited number of K-12 grade level projects that provide education about immigrants and immigration. Applications are limited to educators teaching in public or private primary, intermediate, and secondary level schools. Proposals that are classroom-based will receive strong consideration, and the Foundation encourages projects that can be replicated in other classrooms across the nation.
