Department of Education
The DOE's Division of School Facilities is responsible for the maintenance, repair and safe operation of all facilities under the jurisdiction of the City’s school system, including ensuring Local Law 19 and Chancellor's Regulations on Waste Management are enforced.

City Agencies
  • Council on the Environment NYC's Office on Recycling Outreach and Education is currently focusing on residential recycling, but you can contact them to request one of their Recycling Coordinators give a presentation on recycling at a PTA meeting. They also have volunteer trainings where you can learn everything you need to know about recycling basics.
City Council
  • Councilmember Bill DeBlasio, District 39, is very supportive and helped bring about the hearing on school recycling, which took place June 4, 2008.
